Configural Frequency Analysis (CFA) and Latent Class Analysis (LCA): Are the outcomes complementary?
نویسندگان
چکیده
The purpose of the present study was to compare the results of Configural Frequency Analysis (CFA) and solutions derived from Latent Class Analysis (LCA) to evaluate concordances and disconcordances regarding their outcomes. Explorative LCA was applied to the Big Five dataset described in Lautsch & Thöle (this issue). The comparative analyses of the LCA solutions and the CFA results demonstrate that the two major Configuration-Cluster-Analysis-Types are almost identical to the typical response patterns within certain latent classes associated with high recruitment probabilities. However, there was an informational surplus in each techniques’ result considering the identification of types. Consequently, we conclude that the application of CFA could benefit from the supplementary use of LCA.

An application of Measurement error evaluation using latent class analysis
Latent class analysis (LCA) is a method of evaluating non sampling errors, especially measurement error in categorical data. Biemer (2011) introduced four latent class modeling approaches: probability model parameterization, log linear model, modified path model, and graphical model using path diagrams. These models are interchangeable. Latent class probability models express l...

In this article, we extend the discussion of prediction models of Configural Frequency Analysis (CFA). We build on the correspondence of such prediction models to logit models that was shown by von Eye and Bogat (in this issue), and derive additional possible CFA prediction models. These models can, as is illustrated, include multiple predictors and multiple criteria. Design matrices are presen...

Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS), a combination of coronary heart disease and diabetes mellitus risk factor, refer to one of the most challenging public health issues in worldwide. The aim of this study was to identify the subgroups of participants in a study on the basis of MetS components. Methods: The cross-sectional study took place in the districts related to Teh...
متن کاملLatent class analysis suggests four distinct classes of complementary medicine users among women with breast cancer
BACKGROUND Breast cancer patients commonly report using >1 form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). However, few studies have attempted to analyze predictors and outcomes of multiple CAM modalities. We sought to group breast cancer patients by clusters of type and intensity of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) use following diagnosis. METHODS Detailed CAM use following...

Background: Cardio-metabolic syndrome indicates the clustering of several risk factors. The aims of this study were to identify the subgroups of the Iranian children and adolescents on the basis of the components of the cardio-metabolic syndrome and assess the role of demographic characteristics, socioeconomic status and life style related behaviors on the membership of participants in each lat...
